Lorita "Rita" Dieterichs is a native of Olney, Texas, where she first began oil painting while in high school. She has studied with art teachers in The Azores, Colorado Springs, Dallas, Olney and most recently, the Kemp Center for the Arts in Wichita Falls.

"I usually paint landscapes. I love the colors of nature and the challenge of painting skies, trees, etc. in just the right light to bring across a feeling of being there, or triggering your memory of such a place," she explains as she thinks about all the scenic places she has visited.

As a member of the Wichita Falls Art Association, Dieterichs exhibits at all the Association's shows. She was featured artist in the "What's up Downstairs" gallery of the Kemp Center for the Arts in 2004. She has received several awards for her work, including "Best Still Life" Award in the Kemp's "8 X 10 X ?" Mystery Art Show in 2006.
